Obituary:

On July 30th 1926 Millicent Wing was born to Monverlia (Hill) Wing and Rufus Wing. She departed this life on February 2, 2014 at the home of her granddaughter in Edgewood, Md. She passed on peacefully at the age of 87. She is the last sibling of 13 children. She joined St. AME church at an early age.

She was a member of the stewardess board, missionary Society and was a Sunday school teacher. She loved her church and church family special friend (Deaconess Geraldine Cox). Millicent served and attended her church doing whatever God needed her to do until she was unable to do so.

Millicent received her early education and the Havre de Grace colored School graduating from high then continuing her education at Maryland State College in Princess Anne for two years before having to leave to take care of her sick father. While at Maryland State she became a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority.

After returning home she was employed at Bainbridge Naval Base in Port Deposit, Md and then later for several years at Kirk Army Hospital at Aberdeen Proving Ground.

She was married to Daniel W. Biggs in 1969 he preceded her in death December 22, 2004. She enjoyed life and had a beautiful and bright smile which she was known for. She enjoyed serving in the community as a caregiver, especially for children. She was known for taking care of both church member’s children and members of the military’s children who attended St. James. Her main focus in that was to help single parents who needed affordable care for their children. Millicent also became a licensed Foster parent for the Harford County Department of Social Services where she took in and cared for over sixteen children, who until her death would come by to say hello.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Michael (Barbara)Wing Edgewood, Md, Earline Mittons Havre De Grace, Md, Brian Wing, Havre De Grace, Md, Ronald Biggs Belair Md, Leticia Angelety, Perryman, Md, and also Candress “Polly”Hathaway considered her oldest daughter; 14 Grandchildren, Stephanie (Trey) Pettigen, Joseph Mittons, Daequan Mittons, Deundrae Hendrix, Angelique Franklin, Leilani Smith, Talisen Brinkley, Lakeisha Biggs, Darrell Norton,Stephen Wing, Dalaine Johnson, Marica Brown, Steven McCready, Leslie Somerville; 12 Great Grandchildren; and host of relatives and friends.
