In recent years, he wintered in Florida and enjoyed visiting Tennessee. In particular, he loved staying in Tennessee and enjoying Dollywood. He made friends wherever he went, and loved spending time with all of them.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Lee Anne Pulsifer in 1996.
