Mary Ann Porter, 71, of Harrisburg, passed away on Saturday August 17, 2013 in the Harrisburg Hospital.
Born on September 2, 1941 in New York, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Zubeck) Boltash.
Mary Ann was a graduate of Perth Central High School, NY, and is a US Army Veteran. She was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church, Oberlin, and a former member of the Olivet Presbyterian Church, Harrisburg. She had worked as a crossing guard in Harrisburg, for Hardees in both Mechanicsburg and Harrisburg, the Goodwill Store in Harrisburg, and was for Meal on Wheels. She enjoyed making crafts and knitting scarves and clothing for her friends and family.
She is survived by a daughter, Rebecca A. Farence and her husband Ricky, of Duncannon; three sons, Robert J. Porter and his wife Fran, of Denver, CO; Donald S. Porter and his wife Tammy, of Halifax; and William S. Porter and his wife Christina, of Harrisburg; a sister, Beverly L. Higgs and her husband George, of Newburgh, NY; two brothers, John C. Boltash and his wife Donna, of Camp Hill; and Nicholas S. Boltash and his wife Maggie, of Broadalbin, NY; ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren with one more on the way, and three nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mary Ann will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday August 21, 2013 in the Trinity Evangelical Free Church, 301 Market St., Dauphin, PA. A visitation with the family will be held in the church on Wednesday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service. Burial with military honors will be private and held at the convenience of the family in St. John’s Cemetery, Mechanicsburg.
