Eastport – Joseph Gerard Gallant, 94, passed away Friday, August 20, 2010 at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. Joseph was born in Rumford on May 21, 1916, son of the late Jake and Anne (LaBlanc) Gallant. He retired in 1978 from Guilford Woolen Mill, where he worked as a Roving Carrier for 20 years. Joseph served in the Army National Guard and was a member of St. Joseph’s R.C. Church in Eastport. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, Joseph was predeceased by his wife Sedora (Moore) Gallant; two children, Jimmy Gallant and an infant daughter; sister Jeanne Poirier; brother Yvon Gallant; and a son-in-law Ralph MacDonald. Surviving are his children George Moore of Eastport, Jeannette Stump and her husband Stanley of OK, Kathryn MacDonald of Eastport, Phyllis Halligan of Eastport, Richard Armstrong and his wife Debbie of MO, Irene Heflin and her husband Robert of MO, and Ronald Gallant and his wife Sandra of Baileyville; sister-in-law Helen of CT; 16 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
