Failed to connect to MySQL: Too many connections
Jeanne "Jeannie" Allen, age 78 of Erie, passed on to heaven from her residence, surrounded by her loved ones on Tuesday, August 14, 2012, following a battle with lung cancer.
She was born in Indiana, Pa. on July 26, 1934, a daughter of the late Raymond Mucha, Sr. and Erma Sherbine Mucha.
Jeannie graduated from Millcreek High School, where she played tennis and softball.
She owned and operated the Trocadero Restaurant in Millcreek for years, and was the first woman manager for Kinney Shoes at the Central Mall. Jeannie then worked as manager of Suzie's Casual Clothing at the Livingston Mall in New Jersey. She retired in 1970 due to health problems.
Jeannie was a Special Olympics of Erie County volunteer and head coach for tennis, bocce and bowling for many years until recently due to her health. She had a wonderful angel figurine collection.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Gorney.
Survivors include Robert Allen, her husband of 53 years, her daughter Cyndi Allen of Erie, sisters: Shirley Mae Morrison of Erie, Stella Mae Thompson of Richland, Wash., a brother, Raymond D. Mucha, Jr., and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 West 10th Street on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to a prayer service there on Saturday at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, 1116 West 7th Street on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. with Father Michael DeMartinis presiding.
Burial in Erie Cemetery.
She loved everyone and will be sadly missed by all that she touched.
