William Lee Smith, Sr., the son of the late Charles and Christine Vinnie, Sr. and Ernest Smith, Sr., was born on February 4, 1949 in Painter, Virginia. The angels called him to rest on May 23, 2013 at Heritage Hall Nursing Center in Nassawadox, Virginia.
“Cudy,” as he was affectionately known by family and friends was educated in the public schools of Accomack County. He was a farmer and a truck driver. In earlier years he worked for George Scarborough Farms.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Christine Parker Vinnie, Charles Thomas Vinnie, Sr. and Ernest Smith, Sr.; two brothers, Bernard Vinnie and James Vinnie, Sr.; and a grandson, Alphonso Smith. Cudy will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish precious memories: one daughter, Sibrinia (Franklin) Ceaser of Painter, VA; three sons, William Lee (Jackie) Smith, Jr. of Melfa, VA, Tommy (Veronica) Smith of Keller, VA, and Tyrone (Sharonda)Smith of Parksley, VA; nine grandchildren, William Smith, III of Accomac, VA, Dewanta (Damont) Bishop of Newport News, VA, Tomorrio Johnson of Painter, VA, Tyrone Smith, Jr. and Trevon Smith, both of Parksley, VA, Tommy Smith, Jr. and Tashina Smith, both of Keller, VA, Tania Tyler of Parksley, VA, and Tysheba Giddens of Boston, VA; one great grandchild, Nigeria Reid of Boston, VA; three sisters, Bessie (Larry) Vinnie Stevens of Melfa, VA, Barbara Mae Boggs of Lewes, DE, and Shirley Edmonds of Nelsonia, VA; four brothers, Charles Thomas (Rosemary) Vinnie, Jr. of Keller, VA, Theodore (Kathy) Vinnie of Philadelphia, PA, George Henry Vinnie, III of Kansas City, MS, and Wayne Kellam of Exmore, VA; one aunt, Helen Bundick of Painter, VA; two sisters-in-law, Gloria Fletcher of Accomac, VA and Margaret Vinnie of Tasley, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
