Calvin “Ralph” Mitchell Galloup, 55, of Granger, passed away with dignity after a courageous battle on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 in his home surrounded by family. Calvin was born on October 31, 1957 in Reed City, MI, the son of Dale A. and Linda L. (Livingston) Galloup. On September 20, 2003, he married the former Joy Rhodes.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joy of Granger; four children, Pierre (Kat) Galloup of Knoxville, TN, Jessica (Joel) Crouch of Augusta, GA, Soren Galloup of Granger, and Amelia Galloup of Granger; five grandchildren, Haley, Layton, Jordan, Anrae, and Sadie. He is also survived by his mother, Linda L. Galloup of Luther, MI and grandmother, Marie Allen of Luther, MI, two sisters, DeEtta (Gary) Wemple of Tustin, MI and Kim (Rob) Lees of LeRoy, MI and two brothers, Albert (Peggy) Galloup of Grandville, NY and Steve (Barbara) Galloup of Luther, MI.
He proudly served his country for 24 years in the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of E7 before his retirement from the military. He was a man of many talents and a motorcycle enthusiast. He had the ability to build Harley Davidson Motorcycles, play guitar, build miniature models and engrave into wood. He had a witty sense of humor and was able to accomplish anything that he put his mind to. Ralph was the type of man who never met a stranger and was loyal to all friends and family. He was a member of many motorcycle clubs, including the Hell’s Angels, before he answered the calling of Christ. During the past five years, he ministered at the Kairos Prison Ministries, as well as his home church, and would share his testimony with all he met. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, and brother who will be dearly missed by any who had the opportunity to meet him.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 pm, Monday, April 15, 2013 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, April 16, 2013 in the funeral home with Rev. Denver Burns officiating.
