Carrie Ellen Taylor, 86, of Cleveland, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 18, 2013, in Russell County Medical Center, following a brief illness. Born on October 22, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Vula Mae and Beecher Russell Statzer. She was a very caring and loving woman, who had many special friends. She was of Christian faith.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Maynard E. Taylor; and four brothers, William Elihue Statzer, Dan Statzer, Paul Statzer and Walter Statzer.
Survivors include five children, Kenneth Taylor and wife Wanda of Abingdon, VA, Thomas D. Taylor and wife Anna of Cleveland, Dewey Taylor and wife Elsia of Castlewood, VA, Wanda Smith and husband Thomas of Cleveland and Helen Stevens and husband Nathan of Lebanon, VA; three sisters, Patsy Reynolds of Lebanon, Elizabeth Nunley of Abingdon, and Betsy Bowen of Knoxville, TN; three brothers, Jack Statzer of Lebanon, Robert Statzer of Abingdon and Haga Statzer of Morristown, TN; ten grandchildren, four step grandchildren; four great grandchildren and one step great grandchild. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Pallbearers will be Chad Taylor, Tanner Taylor, Jerry Whitt, Christian Whitt, Adam Taylor, Eric Taylor, Aaron Taylor, Michael Pruitt, Blake Lyons, Matt Chafin, Paul Widener and Brian Stevens.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Wallace, Sherman Wallace, Tom Smith, Nathan Stevens and Johnny Puckett.
Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 20, at Owens Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Olen Cassell and Randy Williams officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at Ketron Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Lebanon. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the mausoleum.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home before the funeral service.
