Obituary:

James (Jim) Kirtley, 53, of Alexandria, IN died Monday February 13, 2012 at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, IN. He was born on August 20, 1958 in Muncie, IN the son of Charles and Norma Jean (Mauck) Kirtley. He graduated from Wes-Del High School in 1976. On March 17, 1989 he married Kimberly Sue (Smith) Kirtley.

James was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a family man and loved spending time with his family. He worked for TK Constructors for 12 years. He was active in 4H and enjoyed Horses, Race Horses and Trail Riding. He raced Horses at Hoosier Park.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Kim Kirtley of Alexandria, IN; parents, Charles and Norma Jean Kirtley of Gaston, IN; one son, Dustin; three daughters, Hailey, Brittney, Chelsie; two brothers, Terry Kirtley (Sandy) of Hartford City, IN; Jerry Kirtley (Dianna) of Gaston, IN; two sisters, Cinda McKibben (Greg) of Gaston, IN; Julie Swartz (Mike) of Muncie, IN; one granddaughter, Lyllian; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday February 18, 2012 at Gaston United Methodist Church 105 North Main Street Gaston, IN. Pastor John Long will officiate the service. Burial will follow at the Thompson Cemetery in Gaston, IN. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. at the Gaston United Methodist Church. Garden View Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. Memorial contributions can be made to the Madison County 4H Club.
