Stella Mae Hunt

Hornell

Stella has entered into peaceful rest surrounded by familyand her wonderful care givers at Taylor Nursing Home in Bath.Born Aug. 25, 1903to Frank and Mary Jane Magee, she had resided in Hornell her whole life. Awonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she lived to celebrateher 103rd birthday with friends at Taylor.

She was employed as a weaver at Stern and Stern Textiles,then known as Huguets Silk Mill for 40 years. Sheloved to crochet, cook, take endless Sunday rides and was a member of theformer Woodbury Universalist Church in Hornell.

She was married to Merrill Preston on Aug. 20, 1921, and he was killed at theErie Railroad yards on March7, 1926. Their only child was Mary Preston Hunt Williams who diedin 1996.

Stella then married Claude A. Hunt, July 3, 1927. They had 2 children, Earl Lester Hunt andBetty Jane Hunt Bartlett. Claude died in 1984.

Stella was predeceased by a son, John Joseph Nealon, Earl Hunt in 1964, Betty Bartlett in 1995, Mary Williamsin 1996 and her son-in-law and one of her care givers, William Bartlett in2004.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Joanne Hammer Hunt Mastin and friend Richard Berry, Grandchildren, Robert(Nancy) Williams, Charles (Nella) Williams, Richard (Rose)Bartlett, Jeffery (Kathy) Hunt, Marc (Terri) Hunt and Terri (Ben) Harris, manygreat grandchildren, Melissa (David), Timothy, and Becky Williams, Charnell, Alysha, Betheny, Deanna, Elizabeth, Faith and John Williams, Shelbyand Nicole Bartlett, Jeremy (Val) Hunt, Brandon (Ashley) Hunt, Jessica Hunt andCarriejo (Josh) Huhn, Seth,Chad(Mary) Elder and Kyle Elder, great greatgrandchildren, Ariana, Mercedes, Madison, Brenden and Abigael Elder, Kyrin Elder, Corbin Rian Hunt andLucas Duane Hunt, Tian Sky Huhn,Melinda and Danielle Hayflinger.

Stella will be sadly missed by her family for all our good talksand family information she had given us over the years while sitting on her sunporch. Her favorite flower was the Forget-Me"Not. Welove you grandma and will miss you deeply.

The family will be present to receive friends from 10AM until 12 Noon and 7-9 PM Tuesday at the Bender-Brown &Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo Street, Hornell where funeral services willbe held on Wednesday at 2 PM. Rev. Charles Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, Hornell, NY.
