Mr. William Orby Morris, age 84, formerly of Wayside Road, Rome, GA, died Thursday morning, August 19, 2004 in Farmington Hills Michigan following a sudden illness.Mr. Morris was born in Cullman County, Alabama, January 22, 1920, son of the late Edgar Oscar and Aytcha Blackwood Morris, but had spent the greater part of his life in Rome and Floyd County. He was a veteran of WW II having served with the United State Army Air Corp. He was a retired employee of the Rome General Electric Plant. He was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church and was a Deacon Emeritus. He loved gardening, woodworking and crafts. He was married to Clora Reid Morris, June 21, 1941 and she preceded him in death September 11, 2003. Survivors include daughters Pattye Lange of Farmington Hills, MI, Frances Miller of Temple, GA, son in law, Ralph Lange of Pickney, MI, grandchildren, Scott Lange and his wife Nancy and Matthew Lange all of Michigan, Leigh Ann, Mike and Mark Miller all of Carrollton, GA, sisters and brothers in law, Geneva Pinson of Dalton, wife of the late Rev. Hollis Pinson, Juanita and Nathan Davis of Armuchee, nephews and nieces, Lamar and Theresa Pinson, of Cartersville, Dana and Carol Pinson of Dalton, Tim and Jill Davis, Ken and Sandie Davis all of Rome, GA.Funeral services for Mr. William Orby Morris will be held at 2pm Monday August 23, 2004 at the Hillcrest Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Skates and Rev. Clyde Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with full military honors accorded by the Honor Guard of Shanklin Attaway Post # 5 of the American Legion.Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of the Hillcrest Baptist Church, 2002 North Broad Street, Rome, GA 30161The body will remain at the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Sunday from 3-5pm.
