Mr. Robert J. Williams, 82, of Genesee Lane in Champlain Park, died peacefully Sunday, January 8, 2012 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
He was born in Clementon, New Jersey on February 23, 1929, the son of the late James and Evelyn (Wendell) Williams.
Bob went to school in Barrington, N.J. and entered the U.S. Army when he was 17 and reenlisted in 1949. He was honorably discharged in 1951. He was employed by Plattsburgh Dairy, Millbrook and most recently NYSEG. While stationed at Fort Hamilton Army Base in Brooklyn, Bob met his future wife, Mary Nori and they were married 60 years at the time of his death. He was a former member of the Cumberland Head Fire Department and enjoyed slow pitch softball, golf, casinos, traveling, horse races , Tic Tacs, Jujy Fruits, and spending time with his extended family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, his sons, Michael (Peg) of Fredericksburg, Va., Mark of Hollywood, Fl., Kevin (Carla) of Ravena, N.Y., a daughter Kelly (George) Sydnor of Plattsburgh. , Peter (Ruth) Drechsler of Scotia, N.Y., 14 grandchildren; Megan , Colleen, Ariane, Jason, Kate, Matt, Charles, Nori, Nathan, Brenna, Desire, Lincoln, Jonathan, and Jordan, 9 great grandchildren; Mariana, Marc Jr., Maxwell, Kayler, Syria, Felix, Odis, Meadow Bell and Dimitri, a sister; Joan Reynolds, his very special brothers in law; Joseph (Peg) and Bob (Marge) Nori, and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was predeceased by his loving daughter, Karen E. Miller in 1989. His parents, two brothers in law; Anthony Nori and John Adisano and sisters in law; Carmella Phelan, Adelaide Ward and Frances Adisano also died earlier.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad Street in Plattsburgh. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at 10:00am in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will be in Whispering Maples Mausoleum in Plattsburgh at a later date.
