William G. Glynn, Jr.

Bill Glynn died peacefully on October 27, 2011, with his family at his

side, at Consulate Health Care in Vero Beach.

Born in New York City, NY, Mr. Glynn was the son of the late Mary

Elizabeth Mooney and William George Glynn. He started his career as a

Manufacturer’s Representative for Mengel Furniture, in Westbury, NY.

In his spare time, he managed Westbury’s Senior Boys Baseball League,

winning the world championship, in 1967. A 47 year resident of

Florida, he retired from a successful career as an Investment Banker

and Associate Managing Director of Public Finance in Fort Lauderdale,

and acquired Atlantic Fisherman’s Wharf, (Pompano Beach Fishing Pier),

which he operated with his children at his side. He and his wife later

moved to Vero Beach, where he joined Thorpe/Sotheby’s International

Realty, in 2000, as a Real Estate Broker.

A life of community service, he served as Chairman of the Broward

County Republican Party, was President of the Summerplace Improvement

Association, Inc., President of the North Beach Civic Association,

Inc., Director of the Downdrift Coalition, Past President of Save Our

Shores, Inc., President of the Barrier Island Coalition, Chairman of

the Indian River County North Beach Corridor Advisory Committee, and

past Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Indian River County Beach &

Shore Preservation Advisory Committee. Bill was an Associate member of

the Florida Government Finance Officers Association, and served on

Indian River County’s Board of Realtors Government Affairs Committee.

Surviving are his wife, Jeri Glynn, sons William George Glynn, III,

Jupiter, FL, Robert Anthony Glynn, Delray Beach, FL, daughters Susan

Amy Godfrey, Godley, TX, and Diane Marie Edgley, Jupiter, FL; sister

Mary Cameron Frey, Chicago, IL; eight grandchildren; 4


A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, November 5 at 12:00 PM at St. Helen Catholic Church in Vero Beach.

A reception will follow in the Parish Hall of the church.
