Jean Elliott Larigan, a resident of Vero Beach, Florida and Leland, Michigan, died on May 16, 2009 at Somerset House, Oak Harbor in Vero Beach.
Jean was born Jean Rowan Elliott to Lucy Woodbridge Elliott and Robert C. Elliott in Indianapolis, Indiana on February 24, 1922. She spent her youth in Indianapolis, making frequent summertime trips to Leland, Michigan where her family has been members of the community since 1905. Jean attended Shortridge High School and later attended Edgewood Park College in Briarwood Manor, New York.
During that time, Jean met John A. ÂJackÂ Larigan of Great Neck, New York and they married on May 16, 1942. Jean and Jack travelled extensively and lived in Minneapolis, MN, Birmingham, AL and Kansas City. In 1960 they became summer residents in Leland, Michigan. In 1986, Jean and Jack discovered the joy of spending their winters in Florida, finally becoming full time residents of Vero Beach in 2000.
Jack preceded her in death in September, 2004. Also preceding her in death were her brothers Richard ÂDickÂ Elliott, Robert ÂBobÂ Elliott, John ÂJackÂ Elliott, and her sister Anne Elliott Stiles.
Jean is survived by her daughter Anne Larigan Walters of Lawrence, Kansas, her sons John Steven Larigan (Sally Larigan) Wichita, Kansas and Robert Scott Larigan (Jane Larigan) of Leland, Michigan, five grandchildren Drew Walters, Chris Walters, Mike Walters, John Larigan (Beth Larigan), Tim Larigan (Amanda Larigan) and two great grandchildren, Lauren Larigan and Hayden Larigan.
Jean was active in Junior League and an avid golfer and player of duplicate bridge.
The family will have a burial ceremony in Leland, Michigan.
