Laura Skippy C. Freeman, 80, of Longmont passed away February 17, 2011 at Longmont United Hospital. She was born November 7, 1930 in El Reno, Oklahoma to William Franklin and Laura Elizabeth (Young) Collins.
Laura was a graduate of the University of Oklahoma, and a member of Pi Beta Phi.
Laura married Sam Fields Freeman PhD. On July 24, 1953 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They moved to Greeley, Colorado in 1960 and later moved to Firestone, Colorado in 2009.
First and foremost, Laura was a homemaker, but she was also a history teacher, typed dissertations for graduate students, and was an Executive Secretary for Farr Farms in Greeley. She was a member of First Congregational Church in Greeley, a Life Master in Bridge, and enjoyed knitting and sewing. She was a loving mother who also adored her dogs, whom she called her second family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Sam Fields Freeman PhD. Sept. 24, 1973, her brother William, and two sisters, Edna and Marriane.
Laura is survived by her son David F. Freeman and wife Lorraine of Firestone, CO, two daughters Emily Y. Freeman of Greeley and Elizabeth C. Roussel and husband Doug of Thornton, CO, a brother Fred T. Collins and wife Sally, grandchildren; Elgin, Bethany, Sara, William, Joshua, Tasha, great grandchildren; Kaelyn, Rain, Christine, numerous nieces and nephews and her best friend, her niece, Nan Johnson.
Memorial service will be held 11 AM Thursday February 24, 2011 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church 803 3rd Ave., Longmont, CO. Cremation at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory, inurnment in Enid, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the National Republican Party and sent in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
