BEVERLY - Bruce B. Linton, 65, died November 22, 2007 at the Salem Hospital surrounded by family after a long illness.
Born in Dover, NJ in 1941, Mr. Linton, the son of the late James B. Linton and the late Dorothy (Bower) (Linton) Schmiedel, was raised in New Jersey and Holyoke, MA. He graduated from Holyoke High School with the Class of 1959, after which he attended the Univ. of Massachusetts in Amherst graduating with a B.S. in Accounting in 1963. After graduation he served in the National Guard. He had been active in the University of Massachusetts Alumni Association and was awarded the Accounting Alumni Award in 1979.
He was a Certified Public Accountant and worked for several firms in the Boston area including the former Alexander Grant Company. He lived in Marblehead for a number of years until he moved to San Francisco, California in the mid 1970s and lived in the Bay Area for 15 years working with the former Ernst & Young in San Francisco and other companies in the private sector. In 1994, he returned to the North Shore area where he worked as a Chief Financial Officer for various local firms.
Bruce was a loving husband, a kind and caring stepfather and a loyal and devoted friend to many. He enjoyed life and lived it with gusto until illness took its toll. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn L. (Harrigan) Linton, and his two stepsons, Derek Espindle of Beverly, and Devin Espindle and his wife, Gloria, and two step-grandsons, Nathan and Matthew of San Diego, CA. He also leaves his cousins, Jeffrey Bower of Westfield, Ellen Burnes of South Hadley, and Robert Bower of Warrenton, VA. He also leaves many dear friends on the North Shore, in the San Francisco Bay area and Hawaii, his favorite vacation destination.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Campbell Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly (North Beverly location) on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at 12:00 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours are on Tuesday, November 28, 2007 from 4 to 8 P.M. After his funeral services, Mr. Lintons ashes will be scattered in the waters off the Island of Maui in Hawaii by his family at a later date.
