Mr. Richard D. Salter, 88, of Corsicana passed away on March 24, 2005 at Navarro Regional Hospital. He was born on February 27, 1917 in Angus, Texas, and attended school in Emhouse, and later graduating from Texas A&M. Mr. Salter was a career pilot in the U.S. Air Force, attaining the rank of Lt. Colonel, before retiring to Corsicana in 1968, he became active in the cattle business in the area for many years. He was a Decorated Bomber Pilot, serving in the Aleutian Islands campaign during World War II, earning the Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross with Oak Leaf Cluster, and the Purple Heart medals. Mr. Salter was preceded in death by his Parents Dick & Johnnie Salter, Daughter Margaret (Peggy) Jacobs, and his Brother Robert Salter. He is survived by his Wife of many years Lelia F. Salter of Corsicana, Texas, Daughter Helen of Columbia, Maryland, Son Donald of Beaumont, Texas, Two Grandchildren and One Great Granddaughter of Detroit, Michigan, Two Sisters Helen Slater of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Mildred Shanks of garland, Texas, and several nieces and nephews. The family is honoring his request for No Services, and No Flowers.
