Mrs. Martha Helen Howard of Dothan died Friday, October 31, 2008 at he Southeast Alabama Medical Center after a year long battle with cancer. She was 74.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Sunday, November 2, 2008 at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Tim Willis officiating. A private graveside will be held following the service at Fairview Cemetery in Eufaula.
The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 4 to 6 P.M. Saturday, November 1, 2008. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society 2346 W. Main Street, Suite 3, Dothan, AL 36301 or to Ridgecrest Baptist Church Building Fund.
Mrs. Howard was born Augusts 25, 1934 in Clayton, Alabama, the daughter of the late Andrew Stanford Jones and Myrtle Ruth Cook Jones. She attended Ridgecrest Baptist Church. She attended the University of Miami with a Home Economics Major, and retired from Best Western Inns after many years of service. She was well known for her good cooking, especially her Banana Pudding. She was also known for being a stock analisyst. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Mr. Charles A. Jones, and a sister, Mrs. Evelyn Cronic.
Survivors include: her husband, Carroll Howard of Dothan; daughters, Charlene Blake and her husband, Karl D. of Vienna, VA.; Brenda Beard and her husband, Ronnie E. of Dothan; Rosemary OKeefe and her husband, Thomas of Boykins, VA.; Pamela Howard and her husband, Bill Kirkman of Monument, Co.; Janet Miserendino and her husband, Carl of Witchita, Kansas; son, Joseph Howard of Arden, NC; sister, Faye Wilson and her husband, Joel of Eufaula, 13 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
