JOHN FRANCIS JACK HAINES, 86, passed away on Monday, February 25, 2008 at his home in Dallas. He was born on March 8, 1921 in St. Paul, Minnesota the son of Floyd and Ada Haines. He was second of eleven children. On February 14, 1942 he married Frances A. Walter also from St. Paul. He was drafted into the Army in November of 1942 and proudly served until November of 1945 in Europe, where he fought with the 104th Division in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. After the war, he and Frances moved to Oregon and settled in Dallas. They raised four children.
Jack worked in the mid-valley area as a Hod carrier and laborer and belonged to Local #320 for over 50 years. He was a member of St. Philips Catholic Church in Dallas. He was a member and past commander of VFW Post #3203 also a member of the Dallas Sportsmans Club. He enjoyed hunting, playing Bingo and spending time with his wife and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Ada; his brothers Bart, Bob, George and Chuck and sister Mary.
He is survived by his wife Frances, son, Jack of Salem; daughters Anna Wherry of Gresham, Rosemary Indra and Mischelle Endsley both of Dallas; sister Dolores Farrel of White Bear, Minnesota, brothers Tom of Siren, WN, Art of Goshen, Oregon, Jim of Salem and Roy of Dallas along with nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 3:00 until 8:00 pm Friday, February 29th at the Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center at 287 SW Washington St. in Dallas. Recitation of the rosary will be at 8:00 pm Friday in the mortuary. A funeral mass will begin at 12:00 noon Saturday, March 1st in the St. Philips Catholic Church at 825 SW Mill St. in Dallas. Interment will be in the Dallas Cemetery 2065 SW Fairview Ave. Dallas. Memorials are suggested to the Legacy Hospice in care of the mortuary.
