BARBARA JOAN DAY, 58, a resident of Dallas died at the Salem Hospital Thursday, January 5, 2006. She was born in Winnemucca, Nevada on August 25, 1947 the daughter of James Connolly and Alice LaFern Elliott Boyd. She moved to Dallas in 1963 and graduated from high school here in 1965. She married Hugh John Day on October 5, 1968 in Reno, Nevada. He preceded her in death in 1986. Barbara took some business courses in shorthand and accounting. For 30 years she worked for the Postal Service in Salem first as a processing clerk and retired as a window line clerk.
She was a member of the St. Philip Catholic Church in Dallas and enjoyed spending time with her family especially her five grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling to Reno and parts unknown with her husband Hugh. She also enjoyed bowling in leagues years ago.
She is survived by her daughter Wendy Day of Dallas and son John Day of Dallas along with five grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters Beverly Jean Wrenn of Fernley, Nevada and Brenda Joyce Brown of Palouse, Washington, brothers Belvel James Boyd of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Bryan John Boyd of Dallas and Bill Jay Boyd of Anchorage, Alaska and many nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm on Tuesday in the Bollman Funeral Home. The funeral mass will begin at 1:00 pm Wednesday, January 11th in the St. Philip Catholic Church with Father Jerry Quintal as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Dallas Cemetery.
