Mr. Cecil Franklin Williams, 63, of 26 Raynor Lane, Round O, died Thursday morning, February 26, 2009, at the Trident Medical Center in North Charleston.
Funeral services will be conducted 3 oclock Sunday afternoon, March 1, 2009, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro with The Reverend Dr. John Carignan officiating. Interment will follow in Kinsey Cemetery.
Mr. Williams was born March 31, 1945, in Blackville and was a son of the late John Edward Williams, Sr. and the late Susie Mae Proctor Williams. He was a former Lab Tech with Milliken and Clariant. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Round O, where he was active in many aspects of the churchs work; including being a member of the Brotherhood group and the Mens Sunday School Class. Known by many, he was considered by several as the Mayor of the Round O community. A man that was very proud of his southern heritage and someone who embraced it, he was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Colleton Rangers Camp No. 1643 in Walterboro. He will be remembered for the love he had for his family and others, and also the passion he possessed for Clemson University Football having been an avid fan for many years.
Surviving are: his wife, Mrs. Linda Schmidt Williams; two sons, Chris Williams of Columbia and John Williams of Ehrhardt; two brothers, John Edward Williams, Jr. of Maryland and Phillip Williams of Blackville; and three sisters, Ruby Lee Holden of Spartanburg, Linda Williams Owens of Springfield, and Mary Williams Sanders of Olar; and his mother-in-law, Mrs. Joyce Vogel of Englewood, Florida. There is also one whom he considered to be his grandchild, Rose Greene.
